Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic hockey series that captivated this nation, igniting passions and uniting Canadians around their national team. The 1972 Summit Series was a defining moment for Canadians, and the 2022 $2 commemorative circulation coin proudly honours Canada’s Summit Series team.

Design

The reverse design by Canadian artist Joel Kimmel features two hockey players representing Team Canada in the 1972 Canada-U.S.S.R. Summit Series. Set against the team jersey’s iconic maple leaf, which is highlighted in red on the colourized coin, the hockey players are accompanied by the words “THE SERIES  LA SÉRIE” and “50 YEARS  ANS”. On the outer ring, the coaches’ initials and the players’ jersey numbers surround the inner core to represent the spirit of Team Canada.

The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Each roll consists of 25 coins of 2022 Canadian $2 Summit Hockey Series 50th Anniv Coloured Toonies in special Mint wrapper and in original unopened condition.
